The project's objective is to safeguard the globally significant biodiversity of the Dominican Republic and Haiti, ensuring the conservation of biodiversity in ecologically important coastal areas threatened by climate change, the tourism industry, associated infrastructure development, and unsustainable fishing practices.

Governance
The convergence of interests among the inhabitants of the Montecristi province regarding climate change adaptation measures is of vital importance for the effective achievement of the project's objectives in its governance axis and, based on this, for strengthening capacities in the territory and ensuring the consolidation of the project's governance axis objectives.
Governance
The utilization of natural capital and local knowledge from the area, combined with scientific research and technical studies, are the pillars of strategies to achieve efficient management of the coastal-marine resources of the protected areas within the project's area of influence.
Governance
The training of local actors in issues of climate change, resilience, adaptation, environmental policy and legislation, marine resource management, finance, environmental certifications, ecotourism networks, among others, will allow for effective participation in the economic-environmental benefits of efficient management of the natural capital of their surroundings.

It is a project funded by the Caribbean Biodiversity Fund (CBF), co-financed by the International Climate Initiative of the Federal Ministry for the Environment, Nature Conservation and Nuclear Safety of the Federal Republic of Germany through the German Government Development Bank (KfW).

Impact
Sustainable tourism carrying capacity (15,000 ha (150 km2) of land area and 150,000 ha (1,500 km2) of marine area).
GHG emissions reduced in pilot areas, 2400 tons/year of CO2 capture.
Coastal-marine habitats protected through Ecosystem-based Adaptation (EbA), benefiting communities in intervention areas with the coverage of 1000 ha of mangrove forest, 1000 ha of wetlands, 1000 ha of coral reefs, and 4000 ha of coastal-marine landscapes.
Development of a platform for training, dissemination, and communication of good practices and guidelines for sustainable coastal management, biodiversity protection, and resilient livelihoods.
Climate action: Take urgent action to combat climate change and its impacts.
Life Below Water: Conserve and sustainably use the oceans, seas and marine resources for sustainable development.
Terrestrial ecosystem life: sustainably manage forests, combat desertification, halt and reverse land degradation, and halt biodiversity loss.
