About Us

Our History

The Dominican Institute for Integral Development, IDDI, was founded in 1984 out of the ideal and concern of a group of men and women to form a society where human beings have opportunities to live a productive, creative, and dignified life, in accordance with their needs and interests, and where interaction and dialogue among the various sectors of our society are promoted.

The increasing inclusion of marginalized populations in decision-making processes for national development constituted the core of the Dominican Institute for Integral Development's (IDDI) work during its first two decades of existence.

The IDDI aims to serve by working alongside the Dominican population with limited resources, providing them with tools to improve their quality of life. The IDDI focuses its support activities on low-income populations living in urban areas of the country, with an emphasis on the city of Santo Domingo and the provinces of Monte Plata, San Pedro de Macorís, Hato Mayor, El Seybo, La Altagracia, La Romana, Monseñor Nouel, Azua, Barahona, and Bonao. The total number of beneficiaries supported by the IDDI is approximately 580,000 people.

“We are a supportive and proactive institution with respect for our neighbors and their real needs.”
