As our lives become more difficult and complicated, and as changes in the world progressively accelerate, constantly imposing new and seemingly endless and almost unattainable limitations and demands, it is natural to feel quite tense, frustrated, and undoubtedly a little lost. As a result, we become accustomed to blaming everything around us for our failures, insecurities, and lack of personal happiness. We always say that the economic situation is to blame for our problems, or it's a family issue, or it's the neighbors, or it's our boss's lack of understanding -- anything but ourselves.
The problem with this view lies in the fact that we believe the causes of our frustrations always reside in the world external to us, when precisely the opposite is true. Consequently, it is easy to blame others for our situation without understanding that the only possible remedies exist within each of us. As a first step towards personal balance, it is necessary to recognize that the key to our happiness exists in understanding that although we cannot change the reality around us, we are capable of transforming our internal reality and in the process modifying our perspective of the world. To achieve this, it would be necessary to understand and assimilate the following:
- The key to personal transformation is definitely recognizing that you have the power to see all things as you wish.
- We are what we believe. Our belief system is based on past experiences that are constantly superimposed on the present with the anticipation that they will occur in the future. Our perceptions of the present are so controlled by the past that it's almost impossible to see things without distortions and limitations. With willpower, we can re-examine who we believe we are and achieve a new and deeper understanding of our personal identity.
- Experiencing this will allow us a sense of total freedom. Being free allows us to live without any fear or limitations that prevent us from being what we want to be and who we are.
- We always perceive that others are attacking us when in reality they are acting from a defensive or ignorant standpoint. The one who attacks does so out of fear, a feeling of being threatened, or a sense of guilt, which leads to only one outcome: conflict, not only within ourselves but also with others.
- To experience peace instead of conflict, we must modify our perceptions. Instead of seeing people as attacking us, we need to understand their situation of ignorance or fear, even if they themselves are not aware of this condition. The only way to face them is with love, showing them that there is no need to fear us, nor life itself.
- When people don't change according to our expectations, we consider them guilty, thus reinforcing our own incorrect beliefs. Personal peace is not achieved by trying to change others, but by changing our perceptions of them and accepting them as they are without judgment.
- Inner peace is only achieved when one can forgive others. Forgiveness is achieved by detaching ourselves from the past and is therefore the mechanism by which we can modify our incorrect perceptions of others.
- Our mistaken perceptions can be corrected right now through detaching from what we believe others have done to us. This process allows us to free ourselves from our past and be free to act without limitations in the present. This is how we break the eternal cycle of guilt and fear that constantly distorts our reality.
- The essence of love is the ability to give it without limitations. Only through this can we experience the unlimited miracle of love and kindness. This is achieved by understanding how love has no limits, and can be given without fear of it running out.
In conclusion, I am responsible for everything I perceive. I choose the feelings and thoughts I want and the goal I wish to achieve. Everything that happens to me is because I determine it so, and I receive proportionally to the will I invest.
