With a life that is constantly becoming more complicated and difficult, it is natural to start asking a series of questions: What am I doing here, where am I going, and what is the purpose of my life? Surely, the answer is not easy to find and may not be a single one. However, it is important to persist in the search for a definition if we want to orient our lives towards a clear and coherent goal. Humans have tried to build their own vision of existence by seeking paths as diverse as different political, economic, and social ideologies, philosophical systems, religious dogmas, whatever they may be, both ancient and modern.   

It is true that each of these visions describes the truth, but in a very biased and partial way. Their perception of life is one-sided, as if they were the fingers of a hand; each sees the palm from its own point of view. Some of the fingers are fat, others thin, some long with many joints, while others are short, and so on. The different conditions of each finger color and alter its vision of the palm. The only difference is that each is describing it from its own perspective and conditioned by space-time. However, the palm is there, it exists, and it is the source and power behind all the fingers, thus representing the universal and common element that exists among them.   

With this vision, it could be asserted that no matter how different the fingers may appear, there is a common denominator among them, a thread that unites them. For us, then, the challenge is to discover some characteristics of this palm with the intention of translating them into action in our daily lives. A modest attempt in this direction would be the following sequence of ideas:

1. There are universal laws that govern all creation. These apply equally, equitably, and impartially to all levels and forms of life, from the most minuscule to the most vast, regardless of their state of evolution.
2. Everything that moves has life. The only difference is its relative level of consciousness or development. It is a Universal Law that there is no such thing as rest or suspension of movement in the Cosmos and that without movement there would be neither life nor evolution. In essence, movement is life and life is movement.   
3. It is a universal principle that all existence strives toward perfection. In essence, all life forms (no matter how large or small) are on their own paths of continuous and progressive evolution.
4. Everything that exists in the universe is conscious and endowed with a consciousness of its own kind on its own plane of perception. All atoms in the universe possess the potential for self-awareness and are, in themselves and for themselves, mini-universes. The difference between an atom (with its nucleus at the center and its electrons revolving around it) and a solar system is less than one might think.
5. Humans are simply members of one of the kingdoms inhabiting planet Earth. We are members of the human kingdom, the most evolved of those we are currently capable of perceiving. We have contact with the three lower kingdoms: mineral, vegetable, and animal, although there are surely others superior to us.
6. However, the human kingdom is neither more nor less important than the others. We are simply all living beings evolving simultaneously and in parallel.
7. Humans are not beings isolated from their environment, but rather an integral, physical, and spiritual part of everything around them.    
8. It is a Universal Law that no special privilege is granted to human beings except that which they obtain through their own effort and persistence on the path of their personal evolution and metamorphosis.

In conclusion, we are not the only passengers on this spaceship we call Planet Earth, and perhaps we are not even the most important. All the others who also inhabit this globe are on their own path of evolution, and it is our duty to respect their right to self-realization. In essence, our development as living beings is intimately linked with that of the other life forms that surround us, because human beings are an inseparable part of the whole. Any action we take for or against the biosphere directly affects us.              

It is essential to understand that the first step in promoting the development of our society is the formation in human beings of a consciousness and worldview in accordance with our real place in the Cosmos. It is only from this fact that the other elements will fall into place. It is a universal principle that all existence strives for perfection. Humans are no exception, as their purpose in life culminates in self-realization. Therefore, true revolution must necessarily begin within the human being, as we can only project outwardly what we have consolidated internally. It is only through this path that we will achieve peace with ourselves.    

To create a better society, the individuals who compose it will also have to transform themselves. Any other attempt, no matter how well-intentioned, that does not consider the metamorphosis of human beings as a fundamental objective, will only be able to offer marginal benefits at best and will never get to the root of the real problem of our civilization.
